Technique and Speed

Track and field training seems to have changed. The emphasis is exerted more on technique and on the activation of the nervous system. The big heavy weight-training is being side-stepped. Training now includes a large variety of repeated exercises that stimulate motor patterns as well as the speedy execution of technical gestures.

Technical drills thus constitute a major part of training, as well as a variety of plyometric exercises. Such training results in faster and leaner athletes. This trend is observed in sprinters, jumpers and throwers.

Track and Field Consulting

Track and field is a wonderful sport. It requires however very structured and rigorous training programs that rely upon a recognized expertise.

I am a consultant in track and field, and more particularly in sprints, throws, jumps and combined events. A former provincial decathlon champion, I once owned a provincial triple-jump record.

Holding a master of science (M.Sc.) in exercise physiology from the University of Montreal, I present more than 20 years of experience in training planning, physical conditioning and weight-training.
